Blasda 2011/12

A great thanks for everyone who helped host a Blasda event in September 2011, it was a huge event far beyond our expectations for this first, tentative year, with thousands of people involved.

Special thank you to our supporters CASP and to our wonderful designers D8, but most of all to communities and producers who’s energy made it happen.

We hope to be back next year and would welcome feedback, ideas, hopes from you about how to develop a local food feast for Scotland. Please send your thoughts to mike@fifediet.co.uk

Thanks!

Cairngorms Blasda

Cairngorm National Park Authority is hosting a seminar Linking Learning and Lunch in Aviemore on Friday 9th September (today!) as part of it’s Food for Life Project. In conjunction with Soil Association Scotland, Eco-Schools Scotland and Sustainable Scotland Network, the CNPA hope to inspire Local Authorities in the Park to link what is on the school dinner plate with what Eco-Schools pupils are learning about the food on their plate through the Food and the Environment topic.

Speakers from the 4 organising bodies as well as the Scottish Government, Quality Meat Scotland and some Scottish LAs who have succeeded in using fresh, local ingredients in their catering services will speak to an audience of LA representatives from catering, procurement, sustainability and education, NHS catering and Public Health and some local suppliers.  See more about local food in the Cairngorms here.
