The Isle of Rum community is hosting a Harvest Celebration as part of Blasda 2012. On Saturday 15th September, we will celebrate all the delicious things Rum has to offer – from wild venison to mushrooms, vegetables, eggs and preserves, and gifts from the sea!
Everyone is invited to the Grand Opening of the Community Polytunnel, and there may be an open garden or two to nosey around. We’ll have a “bring and barter” stall, where you can take along something you’ve grown or made and exchange it for things other people have produced. In the evening we’re having a pot-luck meal, featuring as much local produce as possible – advance tickets are required for the meal so we know how many to cater for.
Rum is the largest of the Small Isles off the West Coast of Scotland, accessible via the Calmac ferry – come for the weekend or just for the day! We have ample camping, two cosy camping cabins, and Kinloch Castle Hostel has dorm beds and a few double or twin rooms on a self-catering or full board basis.
Most of the island is owned by Scottish Natural Heritage and managed as an outstanding National Nature Reserve, while the land and properties in Kinloch Village are owned and managed by the Isle of Rum Community Trust.
More information about our Blasda event will be available on the Isle of Rum website, or you can contact our Development Officer, Vikki: development@isleofrum.com.
